Just a place to post about things that you've been up too. New additions, hobbies, anything interesting happen to you today? And so on. I shall start with saying I am obsessed with Root Beer. I hardly drink any kind of soda any more. Coke, Pepsi, they've lost their taste. Root Beer though, is my new water. Plus it's fairly easy to find caffeine free ones too! I've also been obsessed with Tims Jalapeno kettle chips. So hot, yet so yummy... >: ) I''ve been doing alright in school, my current class is pretty good. I am not really learning anything, but the teacher is freaking awesome. She isn't really hard, but hard enough to make sure you don't screw around. This is a vast contrast to the other teachers I've had, who seem to just look and make sure you posted something, rather than looking at what you posted. Some closing comments being that I've picked up my guitar again, and I'm just trying to relearn everything I once knew. It's been a while... Same goes with drawing. I've also been writing a lot. I just randomly sat down and started writing what is now ending up to be a novelization of Fantelle (That RPG Jay and I were attempting to make...). Weird I know, but it's getting my creativity back on track. Oh, almost forgot, my new job position is going awesome. My shift is still one of the best on campus according to many higher-ups. Things run pretty smoothly and no one gets killed. >: )

Just one more class I think before I am totally done with AI. Than I will be rid of them FOREVER!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been up to much really.. just been chillin' out, keeping up with my blood sugars, etc. I've had a massive cold (probably a flu virus) since Sunday morning and it hasn't gone away yet. Chances are I'm going to have to work sick on Christmas day. Man, that's gonna suck so bad..
I think you told me about your new job position but my memory usually sucks.. You're like some sort of house manager or something now aren't you?

Your next mission, wether you choose to accept it or not, is to do this

House manager is what you could call it. Basically it all falls on my shoulders when things go crappy and I get a couple extra bucks an hour, which isn't a bad thing. Working Christmas is bad enough, but sick is just suicide. I hope things went alright! THAT GUITAR FOX MASTER WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to change my pants and grab a diaper.

I've been playing Rogue Galaxy a lot the past couple days now. I was up till 4am last night trying to beat a dungeon. So addicting... So fun... I've been writing as well. I've written about 40 pages (standard 4.5x7) so far, and right now I'm just fleshing some stuff out on it. Maybe if I get to a good stopping point I'll post it... It's surprisingly hard to translate ideas for a game into a novel form. I've had to change so many things... I also did a map project for it, which is turning out very nicely. I posted it in the Art thread if you want to give it a peek.

Just bought a new Battletech rulebook in PDF form a month before it's hard copy release! >: ) The main reason I bought it is because it contained in it's 400+ pages a new version of Battleforce, which is basically Battletechs version of Heroscape. It makes everything super quick and easy, and you can use at LEAST a lance of units (4). Each record sheet is compacted into a small bit of info, but each aspect of every mech is put into thought, making it very VERY tedious work converting my 50+ mechs into Battleforce sheets. To give you an idea of the scale, a Battletech record sheet for a single mech fits onto a whole sheet of paper, as were Battleforce fits 12 mechs onto 1 sheet of paper. I have had a freaking blast with it, as this is something I've been wishing they would update for a long long time. (Last release of Battleforce was back in the 80s) They also included rules to use the Minis, and the different scales that you can use them, ranging from each mech being it's own mini, to one mini representing a lance or more. Totally rad, dude!

Christmas this year actually wasn't too bad. I still had a bit of a cold, and I infected my hostess but everything went surprisingly smooth. It's not like the past few years, where I'm working by myself ON CHRISTMAS, holding off hoards of people as if it was the movie 300. And apparently we made 4th place in sales within the company, just BARELY less than River which made 3rd.
Holy crap, that's a long time ago.

Awesome! Somehow, the imagery of 300 at Denny's is just awesome. Totally true, although unlike the movie, your Spartan's get the crap kicked out of them by the hording Persians.
I finally have a cold. EVERYONE at work (including about 6 of my kids) had a cold over the past could of weeks and I didn't catch it. Now that everyone is over it, I started my cold on my last work day. Leaving me to suffer until I go back to work on Wednesday. Then of course I will be fine.
Yeah, I actually played Battleforce yesterday with my kids. It was one of the funnest boardgame experiences I've had sense I played Heroscape with you guys in Tucson. Imagine Heroscape but a bit more detailed and a heck of a lot more variables. You can duck, hide behind cover, use Targeting computers, rain down indirect missile fire and use of fog of war (using radar counters to represent you units until you have LOS of them). Cooler yet is one I haven't tried, but the off-map artillery sounds like it would kick arse.

Thought I would bring this thread back up top. Been addicted to Ken Ham's sermons and vids lately. SO much awesome stuff and fresh perspectives, keeps me up at night thinking... Funny guy too. Work is going pretty good, our shift is really coming together now that our new guy is getting the hang of it. Now, all we need are a few choice kids to discharge and work will be perfect. ^_^ Also, I wrote like... 15 pages in a day or so, which is pretty darn awesome for me. I've also been sketching some Fantelle related goodness. Lastly, I have about a week and a half before I finish schooling with AI. YES!!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!! FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm working on getting into Lewis-Clark State to get into Computer Science some time this fall. Oh, almost forgot. I am going to see Dr. Goldberg on March 31st here in the valley (thank goodness) about my next operation, and how things are going. I've been working out a lot, and my heart will flop a bit, but I haven't had any major problems or episodes with it. Meds seem to be helping, but I think I'm really going to push the operation, since it's really annoying having to live with this...

Do you get a degree of some sort?

Post by Fayde on Feb 22, 2009 15:43:10 GMT -8
Yeah, I don't know when, but they send you a certificate of completion. It's not a "degree" in the sorts, but it is saying something. Sadly, I feel like my design motivation and hope has been violently raped from my being and I absolutely despise any design work of the sort right now. I am SO burnt out it's grotesque. I'm sure I'll recover by the time I start at LCSC here in the valley come this fall. I can't wait for some hands on experience with school, as well as REAL interactions with people...

Well, some updates.
Work is going pretty good, things are getting a bit hard as far as the kids go. Almost all of our kids are mental health issues, rather than behavioral, which is NOT what our program is made for. All of us are having to adjust and almost remake our program and the way we interact with the kids in a 180 style turn around. Although they're not retarded or anything, a lot of them have psychotic tendencies and many are only 8-10, rather than our usual 10-12. This is causing a lot of stress at work, along with the amount of new staff coming in, and shifts rearranging. To make things worse, the flex staff (Staff specifically there to cover shifts) are few and far between, and even more rare are good ones that you feel comfortable covering for you. SO, to make it simple (which is funny that people always make it simple after they're rambled on for half an hour), work is freaking stressful. Wow... I need a day off.. lol.
Second, Meli and I have officially changed churches. It's pretty complicated, but Melissa especially no longer felt comfortable there, as there is a lot of gossip and clicks. I personally don't like it because short of a couple that we're still friends with, EVERYONE is 40 or 50 years old or higher. So it's hard to relate to anyone on a personal level. As far as our pastor, we found more and more that he is very... interesting... when it comes to you asking him about what he had just preached in a sermon. Normally you should have your questions answered, not the thing in question justified in a bias, personal manner. So we changed to a place called Tammany (sp?) View, which is still the same kind of church, but it seems a lot less aggressive toward it's members. Consequently however, it is much more a "feel good" church, which I am having some problems with. There is a lot more music than preaching, and it's a big church with two services in the morning, which means 90% of the members are very... watered down. The up side is though, that our pastor seems pretty open with his topics and isn't afraid to talk about some hard stuff every so often. So far it seems just as Biblical as our last church, and he does the word and culture studies that I really like. So it seems like it'll be a good choice, but we're still praying a lot for it.
Lastly, I have been doing some more things to get into the collage here to get into Computer Science, which is really exciting, but also really stressful just thinking about how busy I am going to be this fall with it. WOW. I am looking forward to learning and being in a real classroom full of computers, but I am also not looking forward to working a very stressful job full time and going through intensive classes at the same time... -_- STILL, it'll be a good time!
Anything new with anyone else?
