17 Years after the 4th one... So Ivy's boobs are going to be dragging on the ground by now (if she's even in it), as she has to be like, 50 or something by now. Supposedly, they're going to revamp the story and add more new characters than they intend to return. They also want to redefine the combat mechanics to make it lighter and "sharper", whatever that means. One new character that has been announced (and I think is in that trailer?) is the son of Sophitia. Honestly, I am SO tempted to get a PS3 sometime and get 4. Looks so awesome, I've been looking into it pretty deeply since you posted this (I've yet to actually look into it really), and man the character creation alone looks fantastic. Not including some of the new moves, online play and cool new characters... Must have.... Seriously the best (only?) fighting game out there. www.1up.com/news/soul-calibur-4-fans-create |

Yeah, from what I hear the guy in the trailer is supposed to be Sophitia's son. Might be looking too much into it but it looks like he might be wielding Soul Edge too? I dunno..
Anyway, I can't wait for more character designs.. makes me wonder how different characters like Talim will look. I do think this is a chance to throw some new characters in but I really would hate to see any characters leave the series. If Cassandra or Amy gets cut I will be very pissed..

Indeed, though I don't think they will completely cut any of the main characters (make them unlockable or secret maybe?), but it did sound like they are going to have a very new cast. I just wonder what that cast will be like...
Still, aside from a new cast, what else can they do? I would love to see more downloadable content or fan-made character outfits for the character creation. Or at least come out with a pack for a couple bucks you can buy every 6 months or something. You know, keep the game alive even after the game has been released/unlocked. Personally, that's a huge reason I love PC games, and they need to start bringing that to console games (user/downloadable/editable content).

Soul Calibur IV had downloadable content and with the current trend of gaming, I'm sure Soul Calibur V will too. What I mean is most every game these days have downloadable content because it's a way for the company to make more money, which pisses some gamers off. Personally I'd rather have that extra content (even if I have to pay for it) than none at all. Like with the other fighting games such as Blazblue, Mortal Kombat 9, Super Street Fighter IV, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, etc. you can download more characters and costumes.
As for bringing something "new" to Soul Calibur, I guess we'll have to wait and see what the gameplay is like.

Honestly I never really liked Taki that much... I personally welcome the fresh start of new characters in the series really. I mean, I like the old characters, but there is only so many times they can "relaunch" the game with only a couple new characters. I just hope they don't completely copy and paste in the new characters with the exact same styles/moves as the old ones.

Meli and I both agree that her boobs are smaller this time too? You would think she is like... what, 50-55 now? She should have an alternate "grannie-outfit", lol.
New character looks awesome though, heck, all the new characters look pretty awesome. Can't wait to see some really footage of the game.
