I've really been needing and wanting to upgrade my comp. I did so by getting a gig of Ram, and now I'm going to order a 256mb Graphics card from geeks.com. Linky linky: www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=V6200-256A&cat=VCDWhat do you think, should I do or should i not? I would get a PCI express card, but my motherboard is actually too old to support one... The price difference is great between a 128mb and a 256, but it seems as though 256 is almost standard now days in terms of graphics. Right now I have 64mb intergraded graphics, so just about anything is an upgrade.

Ah you are in the same position I was in some months ago. I wanted to go PCI-e but I would have needed a new mobo which meant new processor which meant I should get a new harddrive and new ram and all that sounded too expensive and I wasnt ready for a whole new comp... I ended up paying $125 for a Sapphire 256mb x800 agp... which was actually faster than advertised after I researched about it (have 16 pixel pipelines rather than 12.. oooo! lol.... but yes, it is a saucy card that has lasted me a while now... I heard the sctock fan temps on it are pretty high so I bought a new fan for it just cause I want it to last forever... but yeah they dont sell it anymore but I noticed they do have "open box items" which are still good and half the price basically... I think that happens when people return them after they get what they arent expecting but I would imagine since they still sell it it is all good and working (I have bought all my stuff from newegg and I know they are good peoples) www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102609RThe card has been working for me, allowing me to play games like FEAR on decent settings, it runs counterstike source and other games 40-70fps... I've always used radeon cores so I have no experience with nvidia, if you have not already bought that other card I would recommend this one, and newegg because they are a great company. Then again, your selection also looks like it would work. and yeah upgrading ram really does help, especially these new games and apps that are coming out... my gig of ram is starting to become obsolete in some cases @_@... someday I will make a massive upgrade and get a quad core processor or somethings... as for now my computer is dispensing exceptional justice. good thing prices keep dropping

Actually I had bought my gig of ram from newegg.com. Great stuff, I just found Geeks.com's graphics cards to be a bit cheaper, as AGP are pretty out of date. Anyway, i'll look into it, more pipe lines the better. ^_^
