However, with games like these one should be more appreciative of the voice acting.. I mean, at least it's not THIS BAD. Apparently one of the guys at the company that translated this used his family to dub it over. NOT JOKING.

www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=76053IT'S OUT! I'm really hesitant to get it, though.. it's freaking $60 and the PS3 version is full of bugs. Not to mention the game's received a lot of hate. (then again, so did Star Ocean 3) But luckily you can change the voice acting in the PS3 version. But I dunno.. it'd be nice if the PS3 had jRPGs that weren't Final Fantasy XIII.

I'm just happy it's out for PS3... Full of bugs though? What kinds?
I think if we wait another 6 months, it'll drop to like, 20 or something if it's getting a lot of hate. "IT"S NOT FINAL FANTASYXXIIIVI2!!!!!!!111 OH NOES!!!!!!!!!"

The game will crash and freeze at random, which isn't cool because some dungeons don't have save points. I don't know how often it can occur and whether it affects certain PS3 models, though.
I think it's one of those situations where fans of the series are comparing it to the "classic", in this case being Star Ocean 2. Just like any series of games, fans get ticked off if there's too many changes, or not enough changes, or what have you. Just like Disgaea, StarCraft, Soul Calibur, heck.. any series. I don't doubt that Star Ocean 2 is the better game, though. Star Ocean 4's cast of characters seem kinda "meh" but if the battle system is fun, then that's fine with me.

Indeed, honestly the main reason I liked SO3 so much is because the game was fun and the graphics were awesome. The characters were pretty 1 dimensional... which is ironic because the game had 4 dimensions.. HA!!! That's knee slappin' good! But yeah, I try to hold games up to their own standard, rather than that of their founders... but it is pretty hard.
I hope they fix those problems, cause I'll probably get it once I get a PS3. Maybe a patch or two will fix it once it's been out for a while.

I will tell you that this Gen. is weird.. because with the PS3 and the like, they actually do release patches for games that you can download and install on your system. Now that I think about it, every PS3 game I've played I had to download patches for. Which is good, but also probably means companies don't care for bug testing as much as they used to since they could just fix any bugs that come up AFTER the game hits the shelves.
I might get SO4 in the distant future, if it drops down to $20 or $30 and if I actually have money to spare.

Indeed. It would make a developer pretty lazy. I don't understand why they don't have beta's like PC games do to help test for bugs. Since they are console games, you could make them closed, but it'd be pretty cool to be able to test play a game WAY before it is released.
I would hope SO4 would have a patch, but yeah, I think getting it later is better than getting it now, due to the bugs of course, but mainly the price, lol.
