Bout flippin' time. Although I am still no closer to being able to afford one... Maybe if they lowered it to $2.99... Then I'd be able to go get one. Maybe. The slim edition looks nice though, it will go back to making Xbox look like a freaking microwave in your living room. Do you know if the slim has the same capabilities as the old one (like wireless networking and such)?

As far as I know, it has the exact same capabilities as the PS3 phat. Which means no PS2 backwards compatibility. Actually, it does have one new feature. Basically if you have Bravia TV, you can control your PS3 with the TV's remote control. Yeah, not even worth mentioning. Here's some more images.Video of the unboxing

That poor PS3 Slim... It was being passed around like a piece of meat, lol.
Awesome though. That means another price drop sometime before tax seasion... Wonder how possible it would be to grab one...? Although I may still wait, as I still am wanting a whole bunch more games for PS2/X and GC.

Wonder how possible it would be to grab one That's actually a good question. I mean, you really wouldn't have trouble finding a PS3 phat but that's only because it was so god awful expensive when it came out. Used to be $599 way back when. Stores literally had piles of PS3s they couldn't sell. Might be selling like hot cakes now that it's cheaper. It's only like $50 more than the Nintendo Wii and the same price as the Xbox 360. Heck, even that new PSP Go is only like $50 cheaper. So it's like why buy a PSP when you could buy a PS3 for a couple dollars more? I'm really tempted to get one now, though.. but my money's better spent on important things like medical/dental bills. Not to mention I already have infinite PS2/DS/PSP games.. but d**n it, I want to play games like Valkyria Chronicles, Soul Calibur IV, Megaman 9 and Blazblue SO BAD. Or being able to play online with these games because the DS hardly has any online games and the PSP pretty much has none.

Indeed. This may be the break that Sony will finally get over everyone else. I would have bought a PS3 by now if they started at 299 and gone down now to 199. I'm sure by Christmas it will go down in price though, if you can find one. Who knows though.
I am still determined to buy a whole bunch of PSX games, and buy a SNES before I start buying new games. I am a bit of a sucker for nostalgia lately, and I've stock piled a list of games that I really want to buy, but most of them are for Gamecube, PS2 or SNES. I think there are only a handful of games of PS3 that I'd buy, but only a couple I can afford. If you buy a PS3 though, I'd totally buy one and we can play online (CoD:4MW namely).
Sadly though, I could probably still drop 300$ in games though, so I probably wont get a PS3 any time soon.

Jon let me have his xtra ps3 and I burrowed some of his games. I'm actually using it to post this. It's as annoying as the dreamcast's web browser. Sad, because that was like 10 years ago. Anyway, if Justin and I get together we should try out Soul Calibur 4. Jon also lent me Blazblue, which is pretty fun.

Apparently there's a bug in the internal clock in most fat PS3 models, caused by the leap year. Preventing them from not only going online but also playing offline games. The rage caused by all this is pretty amusing to watch. Here's a funny video someone made: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoENVnD3J8w&feature=player_embedded

lol, that video has been subbed with everything, I love it. I cannot believe Jon has an EXTRA ps3! Do they plan on fixing the bug somehow? This is going to hurt Sony if they force people to buy a new PS3... Maybe this was their plan all along....

I guess Jon does pretty good financially.. I dunno. He said it came with his HDTV as a bundle deal.
I hear it's fixed now, probably a firmware patch or something. Oh well, it was funny while it lasted.

That punk and his Walmart schemes.... I'm still living off of the old TV my dad got us for Christmas like... 7 or 8 years ago. Though it'd be nice to upgrade, TV is a very low LOW priority on my list. Indeed. That would've been greatly upsetting if all PS3s just died...
