I downloaded a Texture mod for Sins a few days ago, but just now installed it. VERY nice. The resolutions have not been changed, so no performance is changed. But the planets and starts look SOOOOO much better. Especially the Volcanic and Ice planets. I would recommend this a lot, since it doesn't change the game per-say, but it does add a nice little extra does of visual goodness without messing with the game. I have a mind to download Solar Flare, which is another graphics mod which is supposed to make weapons and explosions graphics way better, but that does come with a little extra performance cut... Which I don't know if I can handle in Multiplayer... Here's the link to the Texture Pack for planets and stars: www.filefront.com/9639406/Sins-Texture-Pack-I/

Anyone thinking about getting Entrenchment? I know Jay and Justin haven't played the game , but it looks like a fantastic expansion and would add a lot of new content to the game. If you don't know what kind of stuff comes with it, here's a list: New Defense upgrade tress to add to the Military and Culture tree. This adds upgrades like making your defense platforms much better and obviously other defense based upgrades. Mines. Tons of them. Each race has a specific type of mine too. Star Bases. These are huge buildings that can only have 1 Base per Gravity Well per race, or 4 per race on a Star. These seem to act as planets do... meaning, you may be able to have a base on a Stars Grav Well... >: ) 1 additional Cruiser class ship, which is an anti-structure ships and can deal tons of damage to buildings. Improved AI. Jay said it also has an increased game speed option. I think there is more, but it is a mini-expansion. I think with the Diplomacy expansion together they will act as a single full expansion. They both sound like a lot of fun. I have personally played the game a lot, and am ready for some new content, BUT, I also am completely happy with the game as-is still, and I'm still learning something new each time. Just wanting your opinions. BTW: If you're reading this Scott, would you be interested in getting this game? Anyway, here's some gameplay vids of the game. This one features a fight against a Star Base... From the looks of it, they will be just as hard as planets to take down. Maybe harder? www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDxosHCXeVUHere's another gameplay vid. If you've played the game enough, you'll be able to spot the new stuff: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r44mSFlv1SAFor only 10 bucks.. it sounds really tempting... ^^

I am totally going to get it... Especially if I can still play the normal one OR the Entrenchment. That was I can have fun with Entrenchment, but still play online with you guys (until you get it).
Yeah, Just has a pretty good grasp on the TEC it seems. He played as the Advent (under my suggestion), and he didn't do as good as he could have, but he's there. All games I've played with him though, he seems the be in the worst possible position and is attacked pretty often. That may lead to better game knowledge later though. ^^
Yeah, actually... I am going to make a map right now. For the life of me though, I can't get the darn things to work. Are there special things you need to do? From what I remember, they pretty much make themselves. All you do is position planets and routes...

What is really annoying is that as soon as well all have Entrenchment and Diplomacy, they will come out with a super special edition box for 20 dollars that includes all three games. Not that I would have rather waited though....

Hold on... Does that mean you bought Diplomacy too?
I am only at 20%... It seems to be going pretty fast though, I am sure it is almost at 40% now that I'm done typing...

Does that mean you bought Diplomacy too? Yeah, I got Entrenchment and Diplomacy now. Those Star Bases kick so much butt. I was attacking an enemy planet, when suddenly enemy reinforcements show up. I was incredibly outnumbered so what'd I do? Build a Star Base smack dab in the middle of battle and upgrade it ASAP. Ended up wiping out all enemy forces and conquering the planet. Best structure ever.

Best game ever. Screw Starcraft 2. Honestly, it's over. SoaSE with Entrenchment is the best game I've ever played. I've yet to beat the darn computer even once on easy though, but I think it's more because I'm goofing around with mass production of star bases and upgrades, but still. The new units really add a whole new level to the game, making it now my favorite game ever... Doubt anyone cares, but still. Obsessed much? Yes, proudly so.
Star Bases aside, the new anti-structure cruisers are awesome as well. I've only tried with the Advents, but their cruiser can attack multiple targets at once. I took out a TEC Star Base with only 2 of them, by themselves (granted it was the only main structure, and they had a full scale attack on me in another system).
The mines are really cool, but you have to lay them JUST right, or they will basically be a waste of money, time and energy. Which I think is good, as they could easily be over powered and render just about any attack worthless. Tip: Do not build them at the jump points. Build them near your planet. Have a couple solid clusters near jump points, but generally, the AI will just send a few ships to clear them out, THEN send their fleets of doom to destroy you. Learned that the very hard way..
Also, the AI is WAY smarter. I lost twice against EASY comps, but again in my defense, I was mostly messing around. They're smart and will use Entrenchment well. They take the "leave your defenses to themselves and attack multiple systems at once with everything you have" very seriously. At one point I was being attacked in three systems, one of which they just ran past 1 of my heavily defended systems and attacked a lighter guarded one... That was annoying.
Anyway, while Entrenchment adds but a few new abilities and units, it feels like it completes the game, and multiplies it's playability and balance many times over. One thing I would've liked is a little more race difference... As in, a special weapon with an ability that none of the other races have. For Advents, a psychic Capital Ship with the ability to convert other players ships to their own would have been a cool special ability. Or play more on the TECs trade and economy, making it much easier to use the black market, or something a little more distinct about each race. That is one thing Starcraft will always have over most RTS games. 3 DISTINCT races. While SoaSE has distinctly different play styles for each race, they are generally the same, using the same ship classes, and mostly the same abilities.
Seriously though, epically great game...

I came up with a few things. Instead of this situation:Dude A: "Lets play ping-pong with chicken rackets and a hard broiled egg as a ball!" Dude B: "Did you just pull that out of your butt, or what?" It would instead go like this:Dude A: "Lets play ping-pong with chickens for rackets and a hard broiled egg as a ball!" Dude B: "Did you just pull that out of your FREAKING HUGE AWESOME STAR BASE, or what?" Dude A: "As a matter of fact, I did. But I spent a lot of freaking credits/metal/crystal to upgrade it so it could do that." Lastly: Q: Why did the scout frigate Jump out of the System?........................ A: CUZ THERE WERE THE HUGE FREAKING STAR BASE PWNING IT IN TEH SYSTEM!!!!!111111111!!@!@!!11And lastly last: I found out how to take a screen-cap without all the annoying player interface! If you just press Ctrl+Shift+Z, it hides all of the interface, and leaves it looking like this:
