Greetings from architecture! I am surprised to find myself with a little bit of free time (half of an evening, after a week or so). It feels like I should post something to keep you guys up to date with whats going on in my life. Maybe I will post random things of interest that happen around the studio. We begin our journey here. The College of Architecture and Landscape architecture: Here is the 2nd year studio, my desk is just off the picture to the right. There are about 60 people in this room so the sun never really sets, especially during crunch time: One of our classes is structures, where we are supposed to hoist a heavy wood block above a base with certain restrictions, such as only using tension and compression forces. It was done in a group of 3. My group sucked but I am proud and surprised we pulled through: Here is a detail of the adjustable tension connection: And here is how it works kind of: And the group (me taking the pic, and the two guys on the right) the guy on the left is vice pres of the arc student body. The guy in the middle at the table looking over is a 1st year who was a 1st year last year but got into a car crash. Now he just stays up there making dirty jokes: So that's pretty much it for now, I kind of want to work on a painting just for fun so I might do that, or sleep for tomorrow which is probably the smart thing to do . Hope all is well with you guys and I will try and be a little more active than I have before. ~Brian

Sweet! Thanks for the update! Those pictures remind me of the good old days of when TASS was actually good... Man I miss those... Anyway, looks like a cool class, I like the project you guys did, but I'm also interested in seeing what other people did? Was there any real-world relevance to the tension and compression forces? Or was it more of a problem solving exercise? I'm putting a lot of my free time into giving my graphic design a chance to work it's self out. I've been doing graphics for a board game I designed and hope to publish. I dunno if it will ever happen, but it's a huge hit at work, and everyone else that has played it really seems to like it. So who knows? Further-more, I am going to be taking a CNA class in the coming weeks, and then once I get my stupid Arts Institute debt paid off, I'm going to go back to school to get my RN. I'll try posting pics of us sometime soon too! Thanks again for the update!
