For the Nintendo DS. It's either some kind of funky Lufia 2 remake or a new game that takes place during Lufia 2. It's like an action RPG title though.. looks weird.
Some awesome remixes because I love Lufia's music:

Looks a little weird... I never really played the old games, but it does not look like it could even be the same series... But again, I never played the old ones... I hope it's good though, for Justin's sake. This is what Justin probably thought of when he saw this topic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Riw7j9b8fM8#t=3m55s

It does look really different.. like they could've just used different names for the characters and a different title for the game and no one would know the difference. I never did beat Lufia, though.. dunno why. I think I might've ragequit at one of the puzzles. Actually, now that I think about it, there's quite a few SNES RPGs that I never did beat.. even though I've played through some of them numerous times. I guess it's like if you've watched a movie four times but stopped watching it a hour into the movie, every time. Yeah, I know it's weird..

Yeah, I tend to not finish games pretty often, or at least start them and finish them like, a year later. RPGs specifically, my attention span drops to zero after the billionth dungeon after fighting the billioth enemy of that type. Too few RPGs are story driven the way I'd like them to be... While gameplay tends to make them feel "epic" and long, the story you tend to get out of it is pretty slim.
Sorry to go rambling like that lol. Anyway, you're right, it looks like a completely different game, with very little resemblance to the originals. Now that I've been playing Metroid Prime for the past few days, I can see how it would be a little hard to make something retro and make it modern while still keeping the feel. Especially for RPGs, since most retro RPGs seem to share the same default graphics set.... Not that Lufia had bad graphics, but from what little I've seen, it didn't stand out from any other game visually, so it will be hard to make it have the same feel as the old ones. I wonder if the story telling aspect will keep to the same style..

Kinda bugs me that they made it an action RPG.. as opposed to the traditional RPG it used to be. It'd be like if they remade Star Ocean 2 for the PS3 but instead of Star Ocean 2's old battle system, they gave it a turned based Final Fantasy system. Also, all of the characters would have completely different character designs and everyone would have different weapons so you couldn't recognize anyone. Rena would be a tall long haired Blonde, who now uses whips. Claude is now a muscular red haired man who uses chainsaws, instead of swords. Case in point: OLD TIA NEW TIA, AND YES THAT IS HER WEAPON

I do like what they've done with the music though. It's not bad for a DS game.
BTW, I wonder if Justin even saw this thread. I pretty much posted it because he used to be so into the game. lol

Lufia did always have awesome music. That is pretty darn good quality for DS! I about died laughing at the idea of Claude as a red haired muscular due with a chainsaw! That was awesome! Sad they change so much of it though! Those characters don't even have the same personality! While I do like the actual design of the new one more, it looks nothing like the old. I don't mind them trying to improve on old designs, but completely changing them? The old one looks like a modest, kind-hearted mystic of some kind (having never play the game), while the new one looks like a spunky, foot-in-mouth teenager!

Hello, Justin! How goes it? Any thoughts on this game?
A lot of developers do try to change characters when making sequels or remaking games. Make it their own vision or some such crap. Samus in the new Metroid Wii game doesn't really look like the old Samus at all.. of course, Samus is always in her suit anyway. This is a lot more extreme, though and probably the only people who really care are fans of the old games who nerd rage when all this stuff is being changed. While I don't consider myself to be a true Lufia fan, I definitely know what nerd rage is all about.
