However, I have a lot of updating to do. I didn't need to do much to ge tthe net working, and I just downloaded Firefox 3 and my video card drivers. I still have to update windows to 3, and get my mass amounts of software back on. My computer was REALLY biting the dust before I reformatted it though. It wouldn't open .exe files, and would claim I needed another program to open them. What's awesome was that it would allow me to open up say, Firefox, WITH Firefox.... Odd... Anyway, I am a bit worried about going back to Anime Fuel, cause I am 99% sure that's were all this came from. I started having problems the moment I checked it. -_- Anyway, it'll probably be a few more hours before I am back up and running smooth again. While I'm doing that, I'm also studying for my Nutrition test tomorrow, plus Nutrition and Math homework.... And to think I have to go back to work tomorrow.... -_- Anyway, long story short (ever wonder why people finish a long story with a "long story short"...? Seems to defeat the purpose) we will not be playing SoaSE tonight. As I doubt I can even get it ready to be installed for another 2 hours after updates, and DirectX installation. PLUS homwork/study time... Kind of annoying though, I was really looking forward to playing today... -_- Anyway, NEXT WEEK IS ANOTHER WEEK FOR VICTORY!!!!

I don't use Animefuel, but apparently the website has a bad reputation of being hijacked/malware/virus infested over the years. At least according to random pages in google and threads in their forum.

It seems those rumors/claims are true. Seriously, I started having major problems the minute I exited out of that site.. -_- Oh well, my computer is running really nicely, but I still need to do a lot of work to it. Windows Firewall is still bugging me, even after disabling it, and trying to uninstall it... IT WILL NOT DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is it saying? I know Windows Security will keep bugging you, if you don't have an antivirus and firewall installed.

It's just saying that windows firewall has been turned off, and it cannot hope to protect your computer from the forces of evil. It is no longer saying that since I updated to service pack 3 though. But Zone Alarm was the first thing I downloaded/installed on my computer, long before any windows patches or upgrades. I wonder if it's just the version or something.. My computer is running tip top so far, but it does seem to be lagging in a few areas that it didn't before (namely Photoshop). Still, it's nice to finally have my computer nice and refreshed again. It's been too long.

Awesome. What about antivirus, do you use AVG or something else? I haven't reformatted in such a long time, although I honestly haven't had trouble with it. I have been thinking about upgrading it for the longest time, but I'm kinda afraid that I'll upgrade (buy a video card or whatever) and then have the motherboard or something die on me a couple of weeks later. Sadly, my computer is getting old and it's only a matter of time before it craps out. Of course, I think yours is older than mine and it's still running.

Yeah, mine is a year or so older than yours at least, and when reformatted, it runs really well for an old computer.
If you have a AGV input for your video card, you can upgrade for pretty darn cheap. RAM for old computers are pretty cheap too. You could probably upgrade RAM and video for under 100$. Although of course in your current situation I doubt that will come easily. I was lucky enough to have done it over the course of time.
I've yet to install AVG, but that is what I use.

I'll be reformatting again tonight or tomorrow. My computer is still having lots of problems, and Hamachi has raped my internet connection. Somehow, it has hijacked my connection, so I HAVE to have it open to be online... Plus, my computer takes literally 5 minutes to start up ONCE the desktop is visible, because nothing works if I just msconfig it and limit the start up programs. I've spent hours trying to fix it and I've given up. I dunno when I will reformat, but it will NOT interfere with our playing SoaSE. Even if I reformat today, I will be back up and running pretty quickly. Anyway, there is that. Just a warning I guess. Not sure why I've been having so many problems... Maybe my HD is dying.... -_-

I wonder if reformatting again would even fix it, because you were still having trouble booting up after reformatting the first time. As for Hamachi, my guess would be the registry or network setting became corrupted. I've had similar trouble before.. like when you install a program that messed with networking. I installed drivers for my Wi-Fi USB adaptor that I buy for my Nintendo DS a long long time ago, and after installing it I would just get "Limited to no connectivity" and the internet wouldn't work. Just used a system restore point to fix it, and didn't have trouble when I installed it again. It is kinda weird that it works when it's open though. I wonder if it was uninstalled if the net would stop working too.

I didn't even try it honestly. I'm afraid of what would happen... Yeah, it sounds like it's just corrupted or something, cause I have the same Hamachi version that I did before... I'll let you know how it goes... ^^;;
