Post any maps or replays you've made or found here. Here's a good website for maps: www.sc2mapster.com/I'll probably make some when retail launches.

1v1 that I really could have won if I was thinking abstractly rather than linear. They were Terran. They expand to Island expansion sites... DUH!!!! But of course, it was a good learning exp. I actually almost had him too. I feel like my Zealots really pushed his economy back a few steps and gave me time to work it. However, I should have sent my Stalkers to his south-most base first, I KNEW the North ground base wouldn't be producing minerals anymore. Also, I should have had a unit guarding the north Island base. I didn't even think about it until after the game was basically over and it was too late. It was a good game though. Not very one-sided imo. www.mediafire.com/?m6ic12qv2idbiv7

Man, that was a really really close game. I also really like some of the tactics you used.. such as using the high ground to your advantage and blinking on top of the siege tanks. I think there are two reasons why you lost that battle and the game. First of all, he had a gang of SCVs repairing those Thors. If you were targeting the SCVs before targeting the Thors, you might have actually taken them out. I know you did take out a couple and a couple others were getting low on health. But with all those SCVs, their health is just regenerating too fast. The other thing is, Thors are actually really good against Stalkers. If you had some Immortals and put them in front, with the stalkers behind them then you would have completely owned him. In my experience Zealots do pretty well against Thors too, if you mass a bunch of them and research Charge. I don't know how much time you had once you saw that he had those Thors though. So yeah, I think those are the only things that actually cost you the game. A couple things I'd recommend though is:
1) Scouting. You were using the watch towers which was good but I think more scouting should have been done by both you and your opponent. In your case, I'd recommend building an observer so you can see what your opponent is up to, if he's building expansions and what his unit composition is. 2) Spending money. And I have to admit that I have this problem with Protoss too because it's hard to keep track with when using Warp Gates. I also have this problem when I'm in the middle of battle. Having 1,500 minerals sitting around is a bad thing. Like when you attacked your opponent's front base with those Zealots earlier in the game, if you spent those minerals on building more Warp Gates and getting more Zealots you could have done so much damage in that attack. Or instead of queuing up 3 Zealots in one Gateway, you could have built another Gateway and then be pumping out twice as many Zealots from both Gateways. Just as an example. 3) Hot keys. Pretty minor, but I'd recommend setting all of your Nexus on one hot key. So all you'd have to do is press the number and then hit C for Chrono Boost and be using all those Chrono Boosts through out the game. Like on Warp Gates or research, etc. If you hit W, it selects all your warp gates if you didn't know. Also, it'd be a good idea to hot key your regular production buildings: Stargates, Robo, etc. That way you can build stuff without having to move way back over to your base and click on the building, which takes a heck of a long time. You can also change through different unit/structure types by hitting tab so if say you had a bunch of Zealots, Stalkers and Sentries in one control group, you could change between the Sentries and the Stalkers by hitting tab. 4) Worker saturation. When you get expansions up you actually want to take a handful of workers from your main and have them mining on your new expansion or if you have all of these workers mining from like two mineral patches, you'll want to move most of them to another base. Reason being that you actually get minerals faster if you do this.
That was a good game. I look forward to seeing more replays from you. I'm confident you're gonna start winning some games, just keep at it.

Actually, I am a hot key fanatic for the things I do a lot of. I do hotkey my main Nexus, but not my others.. for some reason... But I did not know about the W Warpgate thing, I normally hotkey all of those. Good tip of the day stuff right there. The Tab thing is nice too, never knew that either. ^^; Anyway, I didn't actually know about the Thors until it was too late to do much about them. I had my strat set up to mass produce Stalkers, and then I pretty much just placed a bet that he didn't have another expansion when I took his south one, maybe I could kill him before he killed me? lol. Anyway, I didn't know how powerful Thors were vs Stalkers, so I guess that could have changed, but until those Thors came in to play, Stalkers were REALLY doing their jobs very nicely. Stupid Thors... Didn't actually think about how awesome it would be to counter them with Immortals though, that would have been fantastic. Scouting is still a work in progress for me. I NEVER scouted in the first game, but scouting is always important for obvious reasons, it's just hard to change my foundational strategy style to suddenly implement scouting. Most of the time, it's a second thought when it should be a first. Yeah, once I watched the replay, I noticed how much I sat around. I never felt like I was doing that though while playing, I felt like I was at my wits end in crap to do by half way through the game I was going to go nuts.
One thing I will give myself credit for, is that he had early Refineries, which normally means a slower but stronger build, so I wanted to attack him ASAP, which worked for the most part. ^^;;
Thanks for the tips, I look forward to my next one. I am glad I can learn so much from just one game. ^_^
