mwomercs.com/gameSame company that tried to make Mech 5 is instead making a FREE-TO-PLAY version of Mechwarrior with matching making, team play, "clans" and so on. It's not a RPG MMO, but more like Combat Arms. The game seems to ONLY be matches between Mechs like online multiplayer matches from MW4. However, they are supposedly keeping true to the tabletop game, making it more a simulation rather than an arcade game like the franchise has recently become. No screens yet, and supposedly it is not going to be a "pay to win" style game, where only people who pay for super content wins. They haven't really stated WHAT exactly will be available for purchase (my guess is extra XP, exclusive maps and so on). I'm excited to see a new Mech game, and while I am much more cautious this time around, I think (and hope) that it will lead to a actual re-launching of the game franchise. Apparently Battletech Tabletop games are more popular than they've ever been (including their prime-time in the mid 90s), so I would think now is the time to make something out of it. I personally would have preferred a RPG MMO version, as the universe is just as deep, if not deeper than 90% of the junk made now days (of course I'm bias though). But I am happy with the prospect of piloting a mech and blowing everyone to bits (or visa-versa lol). Check out the site, as they have a nice bit of info to get your gaming paws ready to scratch. ^^

Oh, and if you are wondering who is crazy enough to register their pilot name already, I am that crazy... ^^;

So Mechwarrior 5 was canned and turned into this Mechwarrior Online? I was wondering what was going on with that project because I haven't heard anything in a couple years.. The free to play online games have gotten bigger and bigger so I guess it'd make sense to do the same thing as a business. Like they probably make more money having the game free and having people pay for content than just outright selling a game. Well we'll have to see how it goes.
