Alrighty, for those of you who know that I have been looking to buy this game forever, and had even bought it at Bookmens, only to find the horrid Chessmaster 9000 disk in it's place, I have found a free download of the full game (pre-patched and multiplayer ready)! I'm downloading it now, and it'll take a bit for me to get used to it, but I STRONGLY suggest downloading it so it'll be another game for us all to play. It's a RTS, which came out about the same time as Starcraft, and it's not graphic intensive at all, so everyone can play it! ^_^ So go now and download it. ^_~ Enjoy! darkreign.us/darkreign.php

Anyone download this or played it yet? I have played it a few times, it's really hard to get back into the swing of things. You do have to download the separate files for multiplayer though. I was thinking we could play it this weekend (Sunday-Tuesday), I've been fairly obsessed when I have time to be. ^^; It reminds me of a mix between Starcraft and C&C: Red Alert. There doesn't seem to be as much limitations that Starcraft has (200 supply, and only 12 units a group), has I still havn't found the limits to either one, and it builds more like C&C, but is very futuristic as SC. Great game and very fast.
Also, some awesome things I have yet to see in any other game, is individual unit orders. You can set each unit, or a ground of units to behave on a set of orders, like, if you set your unit on a low damage tolerance, it will, once it gets to the point you suggested, it automaticly runs back to base and sends it's self through your repair structure. And orders like "Scout" or "harass" sends the unit to do just that, and they do it on their own. It's great stuff, a bit complex in some ways, but freaking awesome! ^_^ Download it if you can, PLEASE. ^_~
Here's a quick list of pros and cons:
Pros: Hard hitting and to the point, but leaves alot open for good strategy and planning. Units are cool, and smart with a very wide range of them. Setting and tech are great. Smart AI, with difficulty settings. Big wide ranged maps with good LOS structure, and elevation. Well thought out tech trees, and buildings upgrade to produce faster. No big limits to units and group building, I had a single group of about 25 units. Mass produce units unlike anything I've seen, I had a huge army within minutes with enough bases and money. It's just freaking fun.
Cons: Graphics make the terrain hard to navigate, but you get used to it. There are not many different kinds of units per race as in SC. Games can take more than an hour, due to size of attack vs defense. Units have no upgrades, which is bad and good. Mining the resources is a little slow, as you only get one "water hole" per base, so only one truck per hole. You have to spread, or you die. No water units.
