Well, my headache is better now after sleeping for.. seven hours or something. Was dreaming about being robbed by by debt collectors and medical billing. Scary. Nah, the 9800 GTX+ will be just fine. Honestly, I don't think running at 30 fps and not 60-90 fps or some crap doesn't really matter. I can only run Crysis at 29 fps or something with everything maxed out and some of the anti-aliasing on but I don't really notice choppiness. Heck, back in my day I'd be playing Alien vs. Predator 2 and WarCraft 3 on my old eMachines, low settings, at like 10-15 fps or something. Now that's choppy. Also, like you said you don't really see a huge jump in FPS until you get to the high end graphic cards or at least a more expensive mid-range graphic card. What's your monitor's max res though? Installing the CPU is really easy. Just pull up the level and then look for the arrow and line it up with the corner that's missing a pin. Then it just drops right in. You do not have to, nor should you force it in or snap it in like you might when seating RAM. Heatsink's a little trickier but shouldn't be a problem. Just don't let anything touch the bottom after taking the cover off like I said because it has thermal paste on it. Even if you leave a finger print on it or get some residue on a table if you're an idiot like me and set it down on a table then you're going to have to clean off all that thermal paste REAL GOOD using isopropyl alchohol (supposedly you want a high proof but I used 91%) and then apply new thermal paste, making sure to spread it evenly but not get any on the motherboard or the bottom/sides of the cpu. Just apply it to the top. Making sure nothing foreign touches or gets in the thermal paste, especially your bare fingers. Also, make sure to read any manuals any of your parts come with. Both the CPU and motherboard come with one and should explain how to install it. FYI, the anti-static bag the motherboard comes in is only anti-static in the inside. You'll see a lot of people put the motherboard on top of the bag (I even did it while putting my computer together) but that's actually a bad thing to do. You're better off just putting it on a clean, wood table or a lot of professionals (who build computers all the time) have anti-static mats. If the heatsink is on properly you can actually lift the entire motherboard by just picking up the heatsink. Glad your headache is gone, but man that sounds like a disturbing dream! We have had a Lice outbreak at work, and the other night I dreamed that the Lice were like, 2 inches tall and had little spears that they would throw at me. They surrounded me, but wouldn't touch me, just poke me with little spears... Yeah, I figured the frame rate isn't really worth the extra 50-100 dollars. ^^; My resolution is 1680x1050. It's defiantly on the higher side, but still low for "big monitors". Could be a 30 inch!! I actually hadn't seen many of those, but I had seen the first one. Here is a couple others that helped. While it feels like a bad training video, it is actually very informative. www.youtube.com/watch?v=prcd2wqIgVQI hope I don't have to apply thermal paste though, the heatsink comes with it, but apparently, the first versions of the 965 didn't! So I hope I don't have to do it myself, it scares me... lol. I think you actually posted that top link before, or I've seen it before... It's a great tutorial though! Thanks for pointing out the thing with the bag. I would have probably set my motherboard on top of it thinking "It's an anti-static bag, why not!?". I am stealing Meli's sewing room for my build day. She has a huge wooden 8 foot table in there that I can just spread everything out on. Plus, it's away from the main part of the house, and only a few feet from my own computer so I can look stuff up as I need it. I honestly can't wait! I don't know if I am more excited to get a new computer, or to be able to build one for the first time. BTW, I ordered my CPU/MoBo yesterday, and it's already in Oregon! I could even get it tomorrow! Oh wouldn't that be awesome!? Not that I can really do anything... EXCEPT READ THE MANUALS!!!!!!

That video you found is actually good, although it's funny how much of a stereotypical educational video it is.

It's been shipped today... I REALLY hope I get it by Monday... I found this today, and did a bunch of reading on it. More tech stuff rather than building stuff, but still interesting. I came to the idea that bhaving a quad-core system may not actually be any different than a dual-core system. I was actually fairly correct as a "basic" user, but as a multi-tasker, I was correct in thinking Quad-cores are in fact, better. While the actual site and benchmarks are pretty nice, the real information I found was in the comments and debates. While dual-cores do hold their own when running the same application, people keep complaining that games and what not do not, and will not gain benefit from having a quad-core system. However, taking into consideration that you could be running a spyware scanner, a game, while listening to music and checking the net (for whatever reason), WOULD in fact be better on a quad-core than a dual core (duh!). So I guess while quad-cores go pretty much unused as a actual advantage toward gaming or other software individually... But still lend obvious advantages toward multi-tasking and "power" using. Here's the site though. www.codinghorror.com/blog/2007/09/choosing-dual-or-quad-core.html

Yeah, I got them on Wednesday. I SHOULD be getting the rest of it tomorrow, but who knows... I says it's on it's way to Spokane today (on Sunday...?), and the other package is going through Oregon today (again... It's Sunday...?) I PRAY that it does get here tomorrow, cause I work all day Wednesday, and I won't have time to put it together on Tuesday due to school, and the fact that we don't get UPS at our house until 6-7pm. The stress is really getting to me!!! lol *dies*

This is annoying....
According to UPS tracking, my computer PARTS are here in Lewiston as of 3am (They havn't shipped it yet as it's only 730 in the morning right now). Which is awesome and cool. BUT, my case is in Oregon still!!!! NOW, lets figure this out. My computer PARTS were shipped from Memphis, TN, while my Case was shipped from Baldwin Park, CA... My CASE has been sitting in Portland OR since Thursday, and waiting for my PARTS to get there. Now my PARTS were shipped to Spokane on Friday, while my CASE just sat there in Oregon. My Case is now in Hermison, Or, and my PARTS are here in Lewiston...
I am going to kill someone....

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tracking Number: 1ZX799450304364936 Status: In Transit - Rescheduled Your shipment is moving within the UPS network and should be delivered on the posted Rescheduled Delivery Date. A shipment can remain in this status until it is delivered. Other than time-definite air deliveries, shipments are generally delivered anytime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. (and sometimes later) to residences, and by close of business for commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window. What should I do if I'm expecting a delivery? This is the most up-to-date information about the status of your shipment. For residential deliveries that require a signature, you can leave instructions for the driver if no one will be home. For example, you can ask that it be delivered to a neighbor who will be home. Shipments that don't require a signature can be left in a safe place at the driver's discretion. In Transit - Rescheduled Rescheduled Delivery Date: 06/30/2010 Shipped To: LEWISTON, ID, US Shipped/Billed On: 06/23/2010 Type: Package Service: GROUND Weight: 24.80 Lbs WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ? Actually, I was (and still am) really tempted to just drive over there and grab it from the slimy clutches of UPS, and drive back with it. It was only 3 hours away!!!!! NOW ITS ON ITS WAY TO SPOKANE!!!!! WHY!!!!!! Although, I did put together my CPU/Mobo/RAM, which is apparently what most people start with anyway. My Mobo is now neatly tucked away, awaiting the day when destiny will call upon it to save the digital universe. Honestly, I was so upset, I even started constructing a cardboard case for use until the REAL case came... Of course it would have taken all day tomorrow to construct it properly, and then I'd install everything, then my real case would come and I'd have to take it apart and put it together again... Seriously though, I am surprisingly depressed. I feel like I was a little boy who woke up Christmas morning and didn't get any presents because Santa ended up being a serial killer for a southern Nazi sect... Finding out Santa is a Nazi AND not getting presents!!! *cries* ... *waits*
